Eldar Mayouhas is a partner in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Healthcare, Medical Malpractice, Long-Term Care, and General Liability Practices. Eldar holds extensive experience in handling medical and psychiatric malpractice cases. His clients appreciate his seamless representation from pre-litigation risk management through appeal.

Eldar’s professional experience began at the Appeals Bureau of the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as a motions editor and focused his practice on drafting and arguing appeals before the Appellate Division. He has since represented medical professionals on a wide gamut of medical malpractice matters, and he has also focused on representing psychiatric and other mental healthcare defendants. He also continues his appellate and complex motion practice.

In addition to his litigation and appellate work, Eldar has successfully represented clients being investigated by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, the Office of Professional Discipline, the Department of Health, the Justice Center for People with Disabilities, the Office for Civil Rights and other administrative bodies. Eldar also represents clients subpoenaed as non-parties in matters as varied as civil cases, criminal prosecutions and matrimonial and custodial cases in order to mitigate any potential risk to the client and ensure HIPAA compliance.

Additionally, Eldar has guided his clients in complying with HIPAA and New York State confidentiality rules both proactively and in mitigation of unintended breaches of protected information. His legal advice has also been sought out by long-term care defendants being investigated by the Office of the Attorney General and individual physicians and practices being investigated by various Medicare administrators.

Eldar has practiced extensively in New York trial level and Appellate courts as well as Federal courts.
